Overview
These are the drives inside our storage and GPU servers, offered separately for self built systems, expansions and replacements. Data drives in U.2 and E3.S run from 7.68 TB to 30.72 TB on PCIe Gen5, in read intensive and mixed use endurance classes, and boot drives in M.2 carry enterprise features such as power loss protection so that a mirrored boot pair survives a power event.
E3.S is the form factor for new 1U and 2U all flash systems, with better cooling and density, while U.2 remains the standard for 2U and 4U servers and most expansion shelves. We match the drive to the backplane and the firmware level to the server maker's qualified list, which avoids the compatibility surprises that mixed sourcing can cause.
For a storage server the usual answer is twelve or twenty four identical data drives plus two boot drives. For a GPU server it is two boot drives and a few large data drives for checkpoints and datasets. We supply drives with the manufacturer warranty and record serial numbers in the acceptance report when they ship in a system.
Use cases
- Populating storage servers
- GPU server local storage
- Mirrored boot volumes
- Expansion and replacement drives

Compare it with the next class up or down
The nearest classes we quote are the 2U 24 bay all NVMe storage server and the 1U 12 bay E3.S NVMe storage server. If neither is quite right, tell us the workload and we specify the system between them.
